A letter to my younger self.

Hi baby girl,

I know you’re doing great. Well, that depends with how old you are now. If you’re going through a rough patch, trust me, it will be fine. You’ll make it to 21, you’ll pass your KCSE, and at 21, you’ll be genuinely happy.

Maintain that love of reading that you have for reading, not only will it help you in the future, but your S/O loves reading,  so your reading list will be looooong.

Don’t be shy or afraid to speak up. Say it, don’t let those mean girls bring you down. In the future you will wish you spoke up when you could.

Stop investing too much on those “friends”, by 21, you’ll have a maximum of 5 friends.  πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ crazy right? I know. So baby girl, pick your friends wisely. Not everyone is your friend.

I would give you a list of people to avoid, but I’m afraid you won’t be able to make your own decisions and learn some of life’s lessons by yourself. In reality, some of these are there just to hurt you and not even teach you any lesson.

Funny thing, grown-ups don’t have it all figured out. Have fun while you can. Like really, have fun. Enjoy your youth. They’re the best years of your life. Heads up, you’re 21, still in your mama’s house, you don’t drive. But it’s okay. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ you’ll get there.

Oh by the way, figure out what you want to do in life, and don’t be afraid to say it and go for it. You’ll waste a whole year because you don’t know what you want to do πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but that’s okay, you’ll be fine.

On the good news,  you will find the one. He is amazing, you’ll go through a hard time in the beginning,  which is normal for relationships. Enjoy him, he is amazing to say the least.

Spend time with your dad and cherish those moments, you’ll miss them when he moves away.

Don’t care what people think. That’s the biggest advice I can give you. Do you and do it well.

Ooh, don’t cut your hair in class 8 and form 2. Not cute. But you’ll be soo pretty. Your mini glo-up. Daaang girl. But love yourself and don’t validate yourself, your strength and your beauty by anyone else’s standards.

See how you journal for fun, look where it’s got us. On the good side, by 21, you’ll get a job, and tattoos and piercings, and you will be the most fun human ever.

How could I forget, you’ll pass in KCSE. Cause, you know, you’re smart like that. But being a bit more serious won’t hurt. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Again, just have fun mama. Enjoy life. Drink water and green tea and take care of your hair and skin. I can’t wait to see what you look like at 30.

Love and kisses,

Your 21 year-old self.
